4 Wedding Lessons We Learn From The Popular Sitcom F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

If there are two things in the world that people across the globe share a unified love for, that’s number one, weddings, and number two, the cult-classic FRIENDS TV show. It might sound biased and somewhere outrageous, but most of our favorite episodes from the entire series have weddings in them. And just like that, as our Maryland wedding planner team sat together for an evening of chilling and watching re-runs of the popular sitcom, they started noticing how this could have gone differently if they had done this and that. 

 

Ticking off the entire wedding checklist for your D-day can be a bit crazy. And let’s be honest, weddings are probably one of the most stressful and, at the same time, most dreamy and beautiful events on the planet. 

 

Without any further ado, here’s what our team could take away from the reckless fictional life of six adults living in Manhattan and their wedding fiascos:

RACHEL’S HOT PINK BRIDESMAID DRESS

If you are yet to finalize a dress for your gang of girls, make sure you don’t end up getting into a fashion faux pas like Rachel’s hot pink bridesmaid dress. There was nothing right about the dress. Go for something minimal and elegant. Your bridesmaids should be able to flaunt and enjoy themselves as they share your wedding day joy. Go for neutral colors or tones of blush pink, or even teal, dark navy, or purple for something royal and bold. 

“I, ROSS, TAKE THEE, RACHEL…..NO EMILY”

Ross was ready. Emily was ready. The only thing that was not ready was his ring exchange wording. Pre-wedding jitters get the best of everyone. Now, we aren’t saying that you will say someone else’s name, but it’s essential to relax and calm your mind and look into your beloved’s eyes to remind yourself of why you are standing there at the altar in the first place. Also, if you are making a speech, make sure you have your notes and stay away from mentioning anything embarrassing. And keep it natural! (cue: Don’t be like Joey). 

COUSIN FRANNY’S GUESTLIST

This season 7 episode where Ross gets an invite for cousin Franny’s wedding and Monica doesn’t is a lesson for both the guests and the bride and groom. If you are uninvited, don’t make the mistake of gatecrashing the wedding. And if you are the one not inviting a family member, make sure to have an open conversation about it to avoid any embarrassing encounters. 

IMPORTANT LESSON FOR PHOEBE

Well, Phoebe learned it the hard way. This episode was a lesson on the importance of having a wedding planner by your side. The minute Phoebe decided to take over the reins of the arrangements, she realized the pressure and the little details that matter into making a wedding successful (a moment of silence for the ice sculpture delivered to the billing address and not the shipping address).
